Market Sheep

All market animals must provide photos to include a head shot picture and profile picture of the animal with an official USDA tag, and exhibitor in the photo. These pictures can be emailed or postmarked according to date table.

Breeds to Show: AOB, Hair Sheep, Southdown, Shropshire, Dorset, White Faced Crossbred, Natural, Hampshire, Suffolk, and Black Faced Crossbred. Must have 3 head to make a breed at nomination time or will show as an AOB.

All market sheep must be individually identified with an official USDA tag.

Weights: Minimum weight of 100 lbs. (Southdown 90 lbs.). Any market sheep not making the 100 lb. (Southdown 90 lb.) minimum will not be allowed to show.

Ewes showing in breeding classes cannot show in market classes

​​ 2. Commercial Breeding Ewes

No registration papers will be required for commercial classes.

Commercial ewe classes will be broken by weight, with a minimum weight of 90 lbs.

Any commercial ewe not making the 90 lb. minimum will not be allowed to show. All commercial breeding sheep must be individually identified with an official USDA tag.

All commercial breeding stock must have an official USDA tag.

3. Registered Breeding Ewes

Registration papers will be checked at check-in and must be in the exhibitor's name with an ownership date according to table. All breeding animals without registration papers will be shown commercial.

Ewes: (January 1, 2023, and younger).

Classes may be split by yearling and ewe lamb accordingly by superintendent. Ewes Cannot have 2-year-old teeth.

Bred & Owned Class (purebred only).

Breeds to Show: AOB, Hair Sheep, Southdown, Shropshire, Dorset, Hampshire, Suffolk, and Dorset Advantage.

There will be an official classifying sheep at check-in. Classifier’s decision is final.

Artificial coloring, paint and powder are not permitted for use in any sheep division during the show. All sheep must be slick shorn, including the head, a maximum of 30 days prior to classification. All sheep must be slick shorn with no wool above the knees or hocks at the time they enter the show ring.
